Equity Research Analyst | Hedge Fund - Shanghai

We are partnering with several long/short and long-biased funds seeking Equity Research Analysts based in Shanghai, covering China and global equities across A-share, H-share, and US-listed markets. Sector focus varies by mandate and may include TMT, Semiconductors, Consumer, or Cyclicals, same with strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct bottom-up, fundamental research on public equities across A/H/US markets, generating actionable long and short investment ideas
• Build and maintain detailed financial models, including earnings forecasts, valuation frameworks, and scenario analyses
• Perform deep-dive industry research across assigned sectors (TMT, Semiconductors, Consumer, and/or Cyclicals), tracking competitive dynamics, supply chain developments, and regulatory shifts
• Present investment theses and trade recommendations to portfolio managers, with clearly defined catalysts, risk/reward profiles, and position sizing considerations
• Monitor portfolio holdings and relevant market developments, providing timely updates on earnings, corporate actions, and sector trends
• Conduct channel checks, expert calls, and on-the-ground due diligence to supplement desk research
• Collaborate closely with PMs and fellow analysts to contribute to portfolio construction and risk management discussions

Requirements & Qualifications

• Proven experience as an equity research analyst, ideally within a buy-side platform (hedge fund, asset manager, or family office); strong sell-side candidates will also be considered
• Demonstrated sector expertise in one or more of the following: TMT, Semiconductors, Consumer, or Cyclicals
• Solid coverage across A-share, H-share, and/or US-listed equities; cross-market experience strongly preferred
• Strong financial modeling and valuation skills with the ability to form differentiated, high-conviction views
• Ability to generate both long and short ideas with clearly articulated catalysts and risk management frameworks
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present ideas clearly and concisely to senior investment professionals
• Based in Shanghai; Mandarin fluency required, English working proficiency preferred
