Boston University invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Clinical Professor in the Department of Health Sciences within Sargent College of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences.
We seek an experienced and collaborative faculty member to support the Bachelor and Master of Science Degree Programs in Nutrition through excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, innovative pedagogy, experiential learning, and a strong record and commitment to scholarship supporting the College’s teaching and research missions. The ideal candidate will be a translational nutrition scientist whose teaching in the areas of nutritional epidemiology and clinical nutrition research/grant writing is strengthened by an active research program. This is a full-time, 9-month, clinical faculty (non-tenure track) appointment beginning Fall 2027.

The Department of Health Sciences within Boston University Sargent College serves a large and diverse student population across undergraduate majors (Nutrition, Health Science, and Human Physiology) and graduate programs in Nutrition and Human Physiology (BS/MS, MS, PhD). In partnership with the BU School of Public Health, the department oversees the accelerated (4+1) BS/MPH program as well as a minor in public health. Together, HS Department faculty prepare students for careers in healthcare, research, and public policy with an emphasis on clinical experiential learning. Our two dozen full-time faculty members lead convergent research initiatives addressing nutritional and metabolic sciences, community/global public health, neurological disorders, mental illness, and the scholarship of teaching. The Programs in Nutrition include a strong undergraduate major with three tracks (DPD, pre-health, and public health). Graduate programs include the MS/DI, MS + Partnership DI, DPD/MS/DI and MS (2-semester).
Responsibilities
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in nutritional epidemiology and clinical nutrition research/grant writing, with additional areas of instruction based on candidate expertise and program needs such as dietary assessment methodology, nutrition and chronic disease prevention, precision nutrition, public health nutrition, and translational nutrition science
- Aligning graduate coursework with new ACEND-accredited MS/DI graduate-level academic competencies
- Supporting curriculum development and innovation across programs
- Mentoring undergraduate and advising graduate students in research and scholarly activities
- Engaging in scholarship and convergent research appropriate to a clinical faculty appointment
- Leadership role in mentoring junior faculty
- Contributing to service at the program, department, college, and professional levels
- Participating in interdisciplinary and interprofessional education initiatives

Requirements
- PhD or other relevant terminal degree in nutrition or a related field
- Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching in the areas of nutrition epidemiology, clinical nutrition research/grant writing, and evidence-based nutrition and chronic disease prevention
- Demonstrated commitment to mentoring undergraduate and graduate students and junior faculty in research and scholarly activities
- Record of collaborative research and scholarship appropriate for appointment at the rank of Clinical Professor
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential preferred
